So, where does excessive punctuation rate?

Well, I do tend to be prolific with the commas, so I am all for it, except in the case of exclamation marks.
Come to think of it, I tend to be prolific sometimes with the Capital Letters, so maybe this is a pot-kettle-black situation.
But, geez-louise, I dropped into the LJ of somebody who’d once inflicted some crazy LJ-drama on a certain long-haired friend of mine, and the HISTRIONIC CAPITALIZATION was all over the place. It was pitiful.

Oh did you mean entire words capitalized? That’s like yelling.
I thought you meant nouns exerting more than usual self-importance.

I Don’t Know what you Mean. What could Possibly be Wrong with Excessive Capitalization? It lends Strength and Emphasis to your Otherwise Boring Prose.

Heh. Actually, I find Words Like This to be charming (in moderation, anyway) but I am annoyed by passages that read like so: “I AM a good person. I KNOW I am. I would NEVER do that. How DARE she come and say that to ME? That is WRONG. SHE is the one who…” Pitifulsville.

Yeah, you’re right. That always sounds like hysterics to me.

That leaves me wondering what the antepenultimate refuge is. I have no better reason for wondering this than a fondness for the word “antepenultimate.”

Heh. I first read “capitalization” as “capitalism.” I think it still works.

Oh, I did the same thing too Sarah!
(Then again, it is 4:00 am here… but it did still make sense.)
