Folding fitted sheets
How To Fold A Fitted Sheet, a photoessay.
One of these days I’ll get the hang of folding fitted sheets. Lately I’ve been solving the problem by owning only one set of sheets that fits the bed.

It is surely only because you lack the crucial orange tabby-cat!
To be less flippant, the process shown is essentially how my mom does it, except not so square or using a surface to fold on. The key thing appears to be tucking the fitted elastic bits in so that you ignore them and fold the resultant rectangle as you normally would.
Or you can cheat, like I do, and just roll them up instead of folding. Like rolling clothes to pack in a suitcase, for travel.

Hee! I saw a similar method on Martha Stewart’s website, of all places. (This was pre-prison–I doubt they had fitted sheets there.) Anyway, the method struck me as so brilliantly simple that my opinion of Martha went up considerably.
Oh, and if it had been my most recent cat in those photos, some additional steps would have been involved: (1) I turn my back for a single minute; (2) I return to find a feline-shaped lump within the folds of the sheet; (2) I extricate said feline; (4) Depending on the difficulty of the feline extraction, I resume the sheet-folding process anywhere from a couple steps back to all the way from the beginning.

This is awesome! (Also, one of the commenters is a friend of a couple friends of mine.)

Yes, the miracle is not that she got the folded sheet so square, but that she did it without having to pull her cat out of the sheets every other fold, or dodge a flying furball with claws trying to attack the sheet.
Part of it is our fault, we’ve taken to giving Yuki swing rides on the sheets when we make the bed each week, so now she expects it all the time.

Hi there:
I have invented a new product – patent pending – which will solve your problems with folding fitted sheets – My product helps you fold and store single fitted sheets or the complete set. For a demonstration you can go to my website – It is easy to use and folds in about a minute and half.

I’ve read instructions and watched videos on folding a fitted sheet, but why does no one have a DIAGRAM? The part I always miss is tucking one corner inside another.
It ssmes that the video makers are lucky enough to have a table near their dryer. I see that I couldn’t possibly get it right trying to do the folding in my small utilty room.
