Massage therapists?

I’m in the market for a new massage therapist, preferably in the U District, Lake City, Ravenna, Maple Leaf, Fremont, or Roosevelt neighborhood. Know anybody?

The LMT I’ve been seeing (not our friend Desolina; somebody else) has some practices that I find questionable. And, to get woo-woo for a minute, massage is an exchange of energies that’s too intimate for me to feel comfortable with an LMT whom I do not feel to be of solidly good character. Nothing really despicable has happened, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to go back.

Updated to add: Thanks, folks! I’m good for now.

When I’m working and have to money to go to a massage therapist, I go to Karrie Dunning on Sand Point Way. Her # is 206.729.8507. Good luck finding a new one.

I know a guy who works in Ballard, I think. I haven’t been to him, but I suspect he is really good.

Amberphlame works in Bellevue. (Her professional site is RejuVa.)

And the therapist I am currently seeing is in West Seattle near where I live at M3 Bodyworks.

Did you see my reply comment to you in my journal about the one in West Seattle whom I saw? I really thought she was good. :) And her prices were also excellent. I got an hour and a half *therapeutic* for $65.

Hi, Aim, and thanks for your suggestion! Alas, there’s probably no way I can make it to West Seattle, and definitely no way I can make it back after a massage. :( I’d be taking the bus, I’ve got fatigue issues anyway, and I tend to crash pretty hard after a massage. West Seattle is like Timbuktu to me, I’m afraid.

Once I got stuck standing on the bus after a massage downtown, and I started getting signs that I was about to black out — first the dizziness, then the visual effects. I crouched in the aisle, trying to keep my center of gravity low and maybe even get my head between my knees, but I was losing it quickly. I could imagine myself somersaulting, unconscious, down the aisle, knocking down the other bus patrons like bowling pins. Yikes. Fortunately, a nice guy gave me his seat even though he was carrying a big box. (Thank you nice guy, wherever you are.) I wedged myself in place and have never again had a nontrivial bus commute home after a massage.

It isn’t always that bad, but I can count on my post-massage commute being at least a little stressful, even if Josh picks me up.

It’s too bad, because she sounds like one heck of an LMT.

Huh. Would you consider someone who would come to your house? I don’t have someone immediately in mind but I know there are people who do that and it might be worth the investment.

Maybe. I’m living in LMT-ville, though; they do call Roosevelt the “Metaphysical District”. There’s bound to be somebody really good right near me.

My roommate’s girlfriend is a naturopathic doctor with a background in massage and acupuncture. I don’t know if she’s still doing massage, but I can ask her next time I see her. She’s based on Ravenna somewhere. Also maybe call Seattle Healing Arts on Roosevelt and 63rd? They might have referrals at least.
