I’m just picturing the marketing meeting…

Marketer 1> How about “Cod Liver Oil and Shark phlegm, together at last?”

Marketer 2> No, it’s too long, we need something catchier, quicker…it’s all go go go

    Marketer 1> “Tube OMG” it’s hip, it’s trendy…appeals to today’s young crowd!

Marketer 2> No, I think that isn’t focused enough on the contents…we don’t want people to be just thinking about the tube!

Marketer 1> How about “Great Orange Taste”?

Marketer 2> Does it taste like an Orange?

Marketer 1> Not the fruit…the color! I’m sure something orange tastes this bad…heck, we could make the goop orange…thus making it true!

Marketer 2> Genius! Now, about the Bull Testicle based facial cream…

Actually, the lemon-flavored stuff is not too bad. It’s just the texture that took some getting used to.

Actually, it might be worse if it did taste good:

Consumer: “Great Orange Taste. Yeah, right.”
    *takes sip*
    “Hey, that’s not bad.”
    *takes larger swallow*
    “Wow, this is really good!”
    *guzzles entire bottle*
    “Ahhhhh. Man, that was great!”

    Later: *ominous rumble from midsection*…

Heh. I don’t specifically take cod liver oil, but I do take fish oil in capsule form all the time, and one batch I bought did indeed have a touch of orange oil added to the gel capsule somehow. As long as you swallowed it whole rather than breaking the capsule, all you tasted was a very faint hint of orange. Erm, I have yet to find enough courage to actually bite into one of these capsules to see what the fish oil itself tastes like.

It doesn’t matter one bit to me what it tastes like going down. Hours later I’ll be getting the faint taste of fish from my stomach. Bleh.
